RapidView IBAK North America
About RapidView
Our mission is to provide our customers with increased profits by providing the best products and service in the pipeline inspection industry.
Innovators of high quality underground inspection systems since 1957
RapidView, LLC created business partnerships with several manufacturers of high quality sewer pipeline maintenance products, including our primary product line from IBAK Helmut Hunger GmbH & Co. KG of Kiel Germany, a manufacturer of high quality CCTV pipeline inspection systems since 1957. Rapidview LLC imports, distributes and services the complete IBAK camera inspection product line, within North America, from our Rochester, Indiana facility.
Originally founded in 1991, as a municipal and industrial services company, our work began developing and providing unique inspection solutions to the nuclear, petrochemical, industrial and municipal sewer industries. The development side of the business, RapidView, has designed and marketed the first practical sonar inspection system or sonar profiling for use in liquid filled pipelines. The success of the company was not only based on the construction and sale of sonar units, but by practical applications in the field to provide previously unattainable pipeline assessment data. We have strived to be a single source for subsurface inspection equipment, utilizing the latest in technology coupled with a full staff of trained professionals.
The IBAK product line is a perfect fit with our company’s philosophy and our customer’s diverse needs. This was a logical expansion for our business. The sonar inspection business and specialized long distance CCTV pipeline inspections created many satisfied customers throughout North America. Our customers like our products, our services, and trust our staff. The addition of the IBAK product line continues our devotion to our customers.

About IBAK
IBAK, founded as “Ingenieurbüro Atlas Kiel” by engineer Helmut Hunger, is today the biggest manufacturer of CCTV systems for the inspection of non-man-size pipelines and wells. The company is now directed by the younger son of the founder, Dr. Werner Hunger.
Founded in 1945 as a small consulting engineering firm, IBAK is today the biggest manufacturer and supplier of pipe inspection systems and is at the same time the oldest company in the trade. For more than 60 years, customers all over the world have benefited from the great experience of this company with tradition. IBAK designs and manufactures modular TV inspection systems with features which are unique in terms of function and technology.
The great variety of products ranges from miniature electronic circuit boards, housings machined from solid materials for camera systems, equipment for pipe cleaning and leak testing, special lens systems of our own design through to complex software for data analysis and documentation. With the possible installation of the equipment in inspection vehicles of all kinds and with our after-sales service, we can offer you all services from a single company.
When the Atlas-Werke AG, Bremen closed their branch office in Kiel at the end of the Second World War because it looked as if all shipbuilding activities had come to an end, the engineer Mr Helmut Hunger, who had managed the branch office until then, set up his own company under the name “Ingenieur Büro Atlas, Kiel” on the 3rd floor of the house Lerchenstraße 2 on the 29th September 1945. The Atlas-Werke transferred responsibility for sales and after-sales service of electromedical equipment and echo sounding systems to him and gradually the company built up its own supplementary production of small electromedical devices. In April 1946 the business moved to larger premises in a former prison in Hopfenstrasse 17 until the company was finally able to take up residence on several new floors of Building 12 in Kiel fishing port in April 1951.
After the company had developed into more than just an engineering office by taking over other shipbuilding-orientated agencies and expanding the production program to include ship’s searchlights, heaters, switchboards and underwater television systems, it changed its name to “IBAK” from the initials of the previous company name at the end of 1957. In 1968, the company took a big step forward when it moved into its own new premises in Wehdenweg in Kiel that were engineered to suit its specific requirements. In 1974, Herwig Hunger, the elder son of Helmut Hunger, became managing director.
After the shipbuilding-related branch moved to its own building close to the main site in 2006, IBAK now has 9,700 m² of ultra-modern manufacturing facilities and offices for sewer inspection technology on a 22,000 m² site in Wehdenweg. More than 250 employees working out of 3 facilities across Germany continue to dedicate themselves to you. Our development, production, service and sales departments are here to serve the needs of our customers from the wastewater sector.
IBAK operates under high standards regarding quality in manufacturing and development. This ensures they can consistently produce some of the highest quality equipment in our industry. IBAK has qualified for the following certifications:
